Rocksteady announces a prequel to the cape crusaders latest outings in Arkham.
That's right, an announcement has been made that The Dark Knight will be returning for an upcoming game that happens to be a prequel to the popular franchise. Shocking I know. But Rocksteady loves to keep us on our toes with its great stories fantastic visuals and way above average story.
As reported by Anthony John Angello of Digital Trends via Variety, the developer plans to do away with the majority of the grit and grime that makes the Arkham games what they are and go with a more, well, lets just say different route. The developer will be basing this incarnation of Batman on the comics from the 1950's, chronicling the events with his very first brush with the Clown Prince Joker (who sadly probably won't be voiced by the great Mark Hamel seeing as though he retired his voice from the character after Arkham City) and feature members of the Justice League such as Superman and Wonder Woman. Which I for one can't wait to see how Rocksteady will portray.
But you see, the thing about this version of Batman is that the 1950's comics are some of the strangest and most non-sensical comics to date, chalked full of some serious cheese including a magical midget named Batmite and a masked dog. So they will probably just be using those story lines from that era to help propel the games plot and motives. Surely the won't be putting these ridiculous things into the game no no. Or that could be way.... wrong.
You see in that same article from Variety, it goes on to say that the game will be "highly stylized." So are they drawing heavily from the comics? And if so how far are they willing to go? It kind of worries me to think I might have some kind of magical midget flying around my head while I try and beat the crap out of The Joker.
So what do you think? Will this huge tonal shift with Justice League characters make us fall in love with the Dark Knight all over again, or will it bring us to tears as we sit and eat cake reminiscing about the good ole days when we soared over a gritty grimy Arkham City beating up Henchman over and over for sport? Leave your comments and thoughts down low and thanks for reading.
I don't care. If it features Wonder Woman, I am totally GAME!
